Welcome to the March 2012 edition of the highend-electronics Newsletter!
June 1st-3rd 2012 T.H.E. Show Newport Beach will take place for the second time. One thing is already certain. This will be the biggest high-end audio event California has ever seen. A must see - don't dare to miss it!
Right on time Voxativ by Schimmel from Germany presents the new, improved version of the fullrange driver AC-3X for the Ampeggio speakers. The Ampeggio won Stereophile's Product of the Year Award 2011 and sounds even better now. We will showcase a brand new pair of this most beautiful German speakers at T.H.E. Show. Engineer, designer and owner of Voxativ Ines Adler will be on site in our room (Suite 309) to answer questions about her outstanding designs.
For this event the Ampeggio's will be driven by KR Audio tube amps. We will showcase the Antares VA320, a Class-A, single ended, no-feedback, 842 tube based power amp - nicknamed Baby Kronzilla, and the gorgeous sounding KR P130 tube preamp.
We also will showcase a system for the small wallet with VALVET amps from Germany and speakers by our new partner from Europe - Contrast Audio. More in our next newsletter.
Contrast Audio
We are proud to announce that we are now the US and Canada importer and distributor for the European loudspeaker manufacturer Contrast Audio. This company, located in the Ukraine, offers a portfolio of very natural sounding and affordable speakers crafted entirely by hand. Drivers, cabinets and finish is build to very high standards and are a real bargain considering the price.The approach is very different than the approach of other speakers. Instead of a crossover network, Contrast Audio uses only first-order filtering (Mundorf capacitor only). This is possible because of their own design of highly linear drivers. High sensitivity is achieved by the absence of a massive filtration system, with minimal distortion of the signal.
The drivers are made entirely from natural materials like paper cone, paper reel, silk suspension, wooden phase plugs...
The Model One AS3's sensitivity is 92dB with 16 ohm. This is the entry model and the retail price in the US will be below $2000. Stay tuned for more information in our next newsletter or on our website.
Synergistic Research
Tranquility Base...
...is an active isolation platform which cleans and conditions the audio signal within the unit placed atop of the base.
The Tranquility Base counteracts EMI and noise caused by electrical parts inside the device as well as RFI and reduces distortion in the audio signal. The result is - the audio signal that leaves the devices which is placed on the Tranquility Base is much more pure, clean and undistorted.
This works also for clean power. Put a Tranquility Base underneath your power conditioner and improve the performance of your entire system.
A factory tour to KR Audio in Prague
In our last newsletter we featured a video of the production run on how KR Audio makes tubes. This time we want to peek again behind the scenes with a factory tour.
Rod Easdown of the Australian Hi-Fi print magazine paid KR Audio a visit. He traveled to the historical factory in Prague to talk to Dr. Eunice Kron and see and write about the making of KR Audio tubes and amps. It's a very nice and interesting report.

ARTOS Audio Sunrise
A brand new review was published on Ultra Audio for our ARTOS Audio Sunrise loudspeakers from Germany. UltraAudio.com is part of the soundstage network and features only the "highest-end" audio components. We're proud that another one of our products made it to this exclusiv magazine, after our Consensus Conspiracy speakers won the Select Component Award 2009.
